The Library of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka was establishment on 2nd May 2001. This library is situated in Faculty of Agriculture building complex at Puliyankulama and is facing to Vavuniya road. It is 3km. from Anuradhapura in the North Central Province in Sri Lanka.
The staff of the library consists of professional, paraprofessionals and supportive staffs. Services of the library include lending facilities, reference facilities, interlibrary loan systems, current awareness programs, information literacy programs, workshops and library website maintenance. Useful links for online resources are also provided through the library web site. The library catalogues can be seen through Online Public Access Catalogues (OPACs.) University Institutional Repository maintained by the Library.
History of Library
The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka was established on the 31st January 1996 under the gazette notofication No 896/2 of 7th November 1995, and the University act 16.08.1978 by amalgamating the resources of Affiliated University, college in the central, North Western and North Central Provinces.
The library system of Rajarata University was started on 2nd September 1996.
The first librarian of Rajarata University library was Prof. Piyadasa Ranasinghe (1996-1998), followed by Mr. Kapila Jayalal Sirisena (1999-2007) and Mrs. A.S. Siriwardana Act. Librarian(2008-2013).
